Strategic Environmental Assessment Website: Guidance on Air, Soil and Water

Welcome to the Strategic Environmental Assessment Guidance on Air, Soil & Water

The aim of this website is to provide practical guidance for Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) practitioners in Scotland and it is designed to be used in conjunction with other SEA Guidance (including that specific to Scotland. This guidance is intended to help practitioners take the potential environmental effects on air, soil and water from implementing a plan, programme or strategy into account and, therefore, support, planning and decision-making processes.

It seeks to assist SEA practitioners by providing information and sources of data, ideas for assessment techniques, and suggestions for monitoring. Therefore, the content is not exhaustive and its use does not guarantee compliance with the relevant SEA legislation.

This website was developed by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) as a partnership project between Sniffer and:

Due to recent changes, the website is now managed by SEPA and only deals with SEA guidance for Scotland. (For more information on these changes, please see the Background to SEA page.)
